Internship for Project Mgmt or Field Ops

Hi guys

I’m going to attend Stevens Institute of Tech for a Masters in Construction Mgmt this summer and I really desire real life experience in the field. I’m absolutely passionate about construction and I’m certain this is where I will focus my energy and training at.

All my professional experience thus far is in accounting, albeit with experience in real estate and development/construction industries.

Can someone advise me on how can I break into the project management, field ops side and what size of GC firms should I target? I really like mega projects but fear I can’t get an internship or interview chance at the big construction firms.

Would cold emails to recruiters work or target cold email alumni? Suppose I take on a project coordinator role, can that lead to APM or A.Super role?

Thanks!
