I'm 25 years old, looking to get into a skilled trade. A local company has apprenticeship programs in plumbing, hvac, electrician, and commercial construction that is very enticing, offering free schooling and a cash incentive for completing the program.
I was also browsing craigslist and found an ad looking for a construction apprentice posted by a small business whose owner is not much older than I am and mainly does residential remodels.
I've always liked the idea of residential construction more than commercial, don't really know why, I guess it just feels safer if that makes sense.
What are your guys' thoughts? I'm pretty torn and I need some advice.
