I had a bathroom gut and the guy doing it cut the pipes leading to the shower and replaced them with thick hoses attached with a clamp. I was not happy when I saw this and said why would you cut good piping to do this and now I was concerned about leaks. He rolled his eyes at me and said and I quote - these will last forever and there is no risk of leaking. I am of the school of thought if there is water there is always a risk of leaking. I am now also not getting very much hot water and the water pressure has dropped - both previously non issues.
What do you all think? Is this current normal practice - it was copper piping that had no signs of water damage. I am concerned with those clamps popping off and flooding me out. He installed a cabinet blocking access to them so now I am not even sure if I would know if there was a leak until it was too late.
I am a single mom with a child who has a severe disability. Mould places him at risk and I am tight on cash. The whole thing has been a shit show and am thinking I might need to take him to take action to get another plumber in to fix a whole crap-ton of mistakes - namely finishing but have serious worries about structural.
I would be very, very grateful for an advice you may be able to give.
