Calif. approves hundreds of infrastructure projects

The California Transportation Commission (CTC) approved hundreds of transportation projects thanks to $690 million in funding provided by SB-1, the Times of San Diego reports.

The CTC also approved more than $1.3 billion in funding for 150 transportation projects throughout the state, most of which are part of the State Highway Operations and Protection Program — the state’s “fix-it-first” program that funds safety improvements, emergency repairs, highway preservation, and some operational highway improvements.

“These projects are just a small portion of the key improvements we need to maintain California’s critical transportation infrastructure,” California Department of Transportation Director Laurie Berman told the news agency. “Throughout the state, projects like these are being completed through SB-1 investments.”

Some of the funded projects include modernization of trail and transit systems, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving safety.
