43 Y/O with 23 years construction background thinking about joining the union, any advice is appreciated.

As the title says I'm thinking about joining the union, I have 13 years residential experience working for a GC doing all aspects of construction from foundation to finish work and everything in between, 2 years commercial working for a GC doing envelope remediation and most recently 8 years working in ornamental and structural steel doing design, building and installing, I was thinking about joining the labors or carpenters union but at my age what would I face? I need a change from my current position I'm in now, any advice is appreciated.
