Are ya'll home every night or close to it?

I'm a vet starting a CM program this fall, and I was curious about the likelyhood of getting a job where I'm home at the end of the day for the most part. I always see guys in construction in motels and hotels, is that the norm? Or are there guys that prefer travel compared to working local?

Not sure what I'm wanting to do with the degree. Estimation and BIM really interest me, I'm really interested in design and crunching numbers. So maybe something down that path?
