Quebec Canada: My buddy/neighbor is in a union (glazer) and gets doesn't get paid for stat holidays.
My neighbor is in a union (glazer) and gets doesn't get paid for stat holidays. This in in Quebec Canada. I live in Quebec, and my union (when I was in the carpenters local 93) paid me 8 hours for stat holidays that I did not have to work. Now, my job was in Ontario, so the rules might be different. My neighbor said it's because he gets 10% vacaction pay instead of 4%. I ALSO got 10% vacation pay when working for the carpenters union. I'm wondering if this is legal. Is it possible that Unions reps made a deal where they get more vacation pay, but no longer get paid for stats? I thought that was illegal to be honest. Does anyone have any experience with this in Quebec Canada?
