Internship for Project Mgmt or Field Ops

Hi guys I’m going to attend Stevens Institute of Tech for a Masters in Construction Mgmt this summer and I really desire real life experience in the field. I’m absolutely passionate about construction and I’m certain this is where I will focus my energy and training at. All my professional experience thus far is in accounting, albeit with experience in real estate and development/construction industries. Can someone advise me on how can I break into the project management, field ops side and what size of GC firms should I target? I really like mega projects but fear I can’t get an internship or interview chance at the big construction firms. Would cold emails to recruiters work or target cold email alumni? Suppose I take on a project coordinator role, can that lead to APM or A.Super role? Thanks! submitted by /u/NormalizedBullion [link] [comments] from Construction http://bit.ly/2PJxW3s via Handy Rep Ai

Hitachi designed its new ZW550-6 wheel loader for toughest, heaviest jobs

Hitachi ’s ZW550-6 wheel loader is designed for the heaviest applications, including tough rock and high volumes of dirt, the company says. The 104,000-pound loader runs on a 512-horsepower Isuzu engine that meets Tier 4 Final emissions requirements with no diesel particulate filter, instead using selective catalytic reduction with a simple diesel exhaust fluid system, according to Hitachi. The SCR system does not require high engine temperatures, and it reduces fuel consumption. The SCR’s design also opens more space in the engine compartment for service access. Operators can further save on fuel with auto-shutdown and the lock-up transmission. For additional power, the ZW550-6 has a new Power Mode that with the flip of the switch on the steering joystick boosts engine rpms by 10 percent. The feature comes in handy when needing extra rim-pull and breakout force for digging in heavy piles. It also gives extra power for climbing steep grades with a full load, faster bucket lifts and

Vögele unveils biggest paver yet, new screeds and new compact pavers at Bauma

Vögele Super 3000-3(i) At the big Bauma construction machinery show in Germany , Vögele unveiled its biggest yet asphalt paver. The company’s flagship Vögele Super 3000-3(i) can pave widths up to 18 meters (59 feet), the equivalent of a four-lane highway without joints when used with the company’s SB 350 fixed-width screed. To pave this wide, the Super 3000-3(i) lays down up to 1,800 tons of mix per hour. An innovative material transport system allows the height of the rear section of the chassis, the conveyor and the auger to be adjusted with the push of a button to get the mix feed coming down on the augers from above resulting an optimum head of mix in front of the screed. As part of Vögele’s Premium line of pavers, the Super 3000-3(i) offers the company’s ErgoPlus 3 operating concept with automated features and enhanced convenience. Paving job parameters can be saved and retrieved at any time using the AutoSet Plus function for easy repeatability from day to day and job to jo
